Ms. Brenda Divers-Wiley, BSN, MA(Ed)
Secretary of the Board
Brenda is secretary of the Continuing Medical Education of Southwestern Virginia. In addition, she is vice-president of the Lewis-Gale Community Training Center and serves as the director of education for LGMC. Brenda earned a BSN in Nursing and MA(Ed.). in curriculum development. She is an active member of Kingdom Life Ministries International and volunteers as secretary for the non-profit Kimoyo Board, a mission organization that helps to fund a variety of local and international projects.
Richard (Rich) E. Cullinan
Rich became treasurer of our organization March 1, 2009. He held several corporate positions before starting and running his own accounting business, and has been involved in the community in many capacities including service as member of the Roanoke County school board. He earned a bachelorís degree in biology from Virginia Tech, a masterís degree in business from Virginia Commonwealth University, and is a certified public accountant. Rich has been a Roanoke area resident for over thirty-five years. He and his wife Linda have three sons, 3 beautiful granddaughters, and two rugged grandsons. He is an official with the Virginia High School League and the Georgia High School Association, and referees several high school sports, as well as college volleyball.
Wanda M. Dalton
Wanda has been Administrator of the Continuing Medical Education of Southwestern Virginia since August 2002. She served as Administrative Assistant to the CEO of LGMC from August 1993 to May 2002. Although retired, she continues to work there as a flexi-employee. Wanda and her husband, Jim, reside in Roanoke.
Brian Wood, D.O.
Vice Chair, CME
Dr. Wood is Vice Chair of CME of SWVA. He is an instructor with Graduate Medical Education.
Carolyn Howell
Carolyn joined our board in Fall 2009 in her capacity as cancer registrar for LewisGale Hospital Pulaski. She graduated from Pulaski County High School and gradudated from New River Community College in May 2011 Magna Cum Laude with Associates of Applied Science with a Specialization in Medical Administrative Support. She is pursuing a certificate in Cancer Registration in September 2012. She previously worked in an oncology and hematology physician office in the New River Valley. Carolyn and her husband resides in Draper. She has one son who is a Sergeant in the US Army and daughter-in-law stationed at Fort Seel, Oklahoma.
Deborah (Debi) Potter, CPMSM, CPCS
Debi has been on the Board of Directors since 1995 when she first joined LewisGale Hospital-Montgomery (formerly Montgomery Regional Hospital) in Blacksburg. She serves as Director of Medical Staff Services and CME Coordinator for LGHM. Prior to that, Debi was Medical Staff and CME Coordinator at Northern Virginia Doctorsí Hospital in Arlington and was on the Board of the Northern Virginia Institute for CME from 1986 until she moved to Blacksburg. Debi was Executive Secretary of the Southwestern Virginia Medical Society from 1996-2006. She was also President and President-Elect of the of the Virginia Association of Medical Staff Services 2003- 2007. She has served on the National Association of Medical Staff Services Conference Committee since 2007 and became Chair for its 2011 and 2012 national meetings. She was also appointed to the Virginia Board of Medicine Committee on Continuing Competency for Physicians for 2007. Debi has been with HCA for 23 years.
Edward Griffin, M.D.
Director, GME
Dr. Griffin is the Director of Graduate Medical Education at LewisGale Medical Center
George Wall, MD
Dr. Wall has been on the Board and Planning and Evaluation Committee for a number of years. He earned both undergraduate and medical degrees from Wake Forest University. Dr. Wall served two years with NATO forces in northern Italy as a medical officer, and later returned to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for four years of training in internal medicine and gastroenterology. He served on the W-F faculty before joining Lewis-Gale Clinic in 1965. He introduced fiberoptic GI endoscopy to the Roanoke Valley. Dr. Wall is board-certified and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. Although he retired from LGC in 1996, he actively volunteers at the Bradley Free Clinic. Dr. Wall resides in Roanoke with his wife Billie.
Hassan K. Honainy, MD
Dr. Honainy has been assisting LewisGale Hospital Alleghany with their CME programs since 2002. He earned his medical degree from the American University of Beirut. He completed his internal medicine residency program at Maryland General Hospital and completed a nephrology and hypertension fellowship in 1995 at the University of South Florida. Dr. Honainy is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology. He and his family reside in Lexington.
Jane Gladwell

Jane Gladwell is the CME Coordinator for the Cancer Conference held weekly at LGMC
Judith Hagadorn, CPA
Judy Hagadorn was a charter member of the what became CME of Southwestern Virginia (see history) at its founding in November 1982. She served most ably as its treasurer for 17 years. She has also been involved with arranging CME activities for the Lewis-Gale Foundation through Health Focus of Southwest Virginia. Ms. Hagadorn currently serves as President of Health Focus.
Kenneth R. Pendergrast, MD
Dr. Pendergrast has been a member of the Board for a number of years by dint of his help with the CME program at LewisGale Hospital Pulaski. He obtained his MD from LSU and completed his residency in internal medicine at MCV. Dr. Pendergrast has been an active partner in New River Internal Medicine with a special interest in critical care medicine. He resides in the Pulaski area and his website is

Dr. Ellsworth is the Vice President of Graduate Medical Education for the Capital Division of HCA
Vandana Karri, MD
Dr. Karri is another valuable and recent addition to the Board and its Planning and Evaluation Committee. She joined the Hematology/Oncology practice of LewisGale Physicians in 2005. She received her MD from New York Methodist Hospital/ Weill-Cornell Medical College and went on to complete a residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in hematology and oncology at New York Methodist. Dr. Karri is a diplomate of both the American Boards of Internal Medicine and of Hematology/Oncology. Dr. Karri and her husband reside in Roanoke with their two young sons, Vishnusai and Abhinav.
